"I have already started work in the gym and am fulfilling certain goals," he said. "I am an optimistic person and want to think that I'll return to play this season.
"It is frustrating to miss out on the Champions League games coming up but I hope we get through so that I have a chance of playing in later rounds.
"Lampard apologised for the tackle and that is a nice gesture, but it has annoyed me to get this injury at the worst possible moment."
