Former Liverpool star believes Owen will impress in Portugal

Lawernson is tipping Owen to be among the front runners for the Golden Boot award.

Lawrenson said: "He has fantastic pace but Michael's game is all about playing on the shoulder of the last defender. He's not particularly worried about being caught off-side because he knows with the right service he'll get in eventually.

"Michael is not as much of a force as Henry in other aspects, but you can't knock his goalscoring record for England. He's a big game player, and even when he's not been playing well for his club, it never seems to bother him when he plays for England.

"With Liverpool having struggled a bit, it's like a release. England have more attacking options than Liverpool, so he must think he's on holiday.

"He is absolutely crucial to England's chances and now he looks like forming a great partnership with Wayne Rooney. At international level that benefits Owen more than playing with Heskey - it's not about knocking people over."

Unfortunately for Owen, Mark Lawrenson is the worst pundit in the entire world at making predictions!
