The Kop roared Liverpool to a 4-1 win over Porto last night to keep the Reds' Champions League hopes alive and after the game Steven Gerrard was quick to thank the supporters for their efforts.

"The most important thing was getting the job done," said the Liverpool skipper.

"We can play better, but give them [Porto] credit.

"Porto have quality players and are well organised, but once we scored the second goal they fell apart and we got the third and fourth. "The fans are like having an extra man.

"They may not realise it but it makes a big difference."
