More signings possible

Liverpool have already signed Daniel Agger, Jan Kromkamp, Paul Anderson and David Martin during the January transfer market but Rafa Benitez says he is still on the look-out for players who can improve the squad.

"We are still looking for good players for the present and the future. It's difficult in January, but we've signed two [for the first team] and we'll keep trying to look for others," said the Liverpool manager.

"We are improving our team signing hungry, young players. We will continue to look for good players all around the world. Normally when I talk with scouts we talk about English players but the problem here is the price.

"In January it is more difficult. Most good players are playing in good teams and they are playing for something in terms of trophies.

"If you do not pay very big money, crazy sometimes, you cannot sign English players. Have you seen the prices being asked for home-grown players? If those prices were cut, that is the only way we can sign them.

"People think we have a lot of money and we can pay over the value. We will only pay the true value of a player."
