Liverpool goalkeeping crisis deepens

Arne Slot is facing a major selection headache ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Crystal Palace this Saturday.

Following Sunday's 2-1 win over Everton in the first waterfront Merseyside Derby, it has been confirmed that goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili will be sidelined for two to four weeks.

The Georgian international was hospitalised after a nasty collision with Everton striker Beto and, although he has since been released, a deep wound on his knee prevents him from training.

With first-choice keeper Alisson Becker still out with a hamstring injury, Liverpool are forced to rely on third-choice Freddie Woodman, who made his Premier League debut as a substitute at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

This goalkeeping instability comes at a disastrous time for the Reds, who are competing with Manchester United and Aston Villa in the race for Champions League qualification.
