The club are currently in talks with the keeper over a new contract and Benitez believes a deal will soon be done.
"We have had conversations with his agent and he knows our idea. We also know his idea," said the boss.
"The conversations will continue and I think it will be easy to finalise and have an agreement.
"His mentality is really good and we are really happy with him. In a top side you have to be a good goalkeeper for 90 minutes.
"He has a great character and he is always pushing his teammates. He is a leader on the pitch too."
