Reading, Chelsea and the Reds are all thought to be on the tail of the talented youngster, but he is in no rush to move.
Talking to the Daily Record, McCarthy said, "The prospect of moving away from here and maybe down south is a lot to think about."
He added that he might prefer a move to Celtic as it was closer to home. However the player had nothing but praise for Anfield, adding, "Liverpool was great. The facilities were fantastic and I got to meet a few of the players too."
