The 17-year-old has attracted interest from a host of clubs, but Liverpool and Ajax lead the race for his signature, according to the Daily Mirror.
"He is an interesting player that we are following," Ajax Sporting Director Marc Overmars told the Dutch media.
"Thinking about possible reinforcements for next season, our preference is for Dutch players.”
But Liverpool have been keeping close tabs on the player for the last 18 months and could be set to make a move at the end of the season.
