Graeme Souness

Last updated : 21 January 2004 By Kevin Smith

Souness was the central pillar in Liverpool's midfield during his six years at the club and guided them to domestic and European success before leaving for Sampdoria in 1984.

He finally returned to Liverpool as manager when Kenny Dalglish resigned. His management style became unpopular with both players and fans alike and he lasted just under three seasons at the club.

He is still blamed for Liverpool's demise during the 90's.
