The Liverpool midfielder suffered a knee injury during the defeat at Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday night and has seen a specialist in Harley Street on Friday to assess the ligament damage.
If an operation is needed then his season will be over. Otherwise he could be back in action for the final few games, but would still miss the FA Cup Final should Liverpool get there.
