"I don't think it'd be too easy to explain the emotions, but at the end of the day it was great credit to both football clubs," said the Liverpool boss. "Cardiff represented their club extremely well. Even when they were down at the end they dug in and got themselves back in it with an equaliser.

"There's got to be some way to settle the final and unfortunately its penalties. Even for us, we are celebrating victory but we're not gloating that one of their boys missed it for us to win.
"That's not fair to anybody, but there's got to be some way for us to win it. For us we're delighted to get another trophy. It's a fantastic step forward for the football club and all we want to do is enjoy the moment and see where it takes us."
