Bad day at the office

"Disappointing result for us and performance really," he said after the game. "I didn't really know where that was coming from to be honest because its been out of context of how we've been performing.

"We had the opportunity to be two or three goals up early on in the game but were a bit careless with the final ball and never ended up taking the chances. That's always the danger if you don't take the oportunities and you can get punished.

"Aston Villa came and defended well and obviously when you get the goals they are not having to come out and chase the game, so it was going to be important for us to try to get the first goal today, but it wasn't to be.

"We just didn't have the intensity and quality today and just need to take that as a bad day at the office and move on.

"Apart from the Arsenal game, a lot of the games we have been good here at home. We've created chances. I just felt today we weren't quite sharp enough on our final pass and concise enough in and around the box.

"Today we just weren't as intense in our pressure with and without the ball and unfortunately we didn't take that chance to win a home game.
