“I always wanted to play in England. When I left Chelsea I was always thinking that one day I’d be back again.

“When I had been bought by Roma, my first thought was to stay there. I didn’t expect Liverpool to come and buy me but then the offer came.

“It wasn’t a hard decision, It only took five seconds to decide I wanted to come to England. I just wanted everything the quickest way possible.

“I know I have something to prove. That is the case every day on the training ground, every weekend when there is a game. Every time I have to prove that I can play

“I want to bring goals and add value to the team. I want to be recognised as a person first of all and then a footballer.

“I want to be a focal point of the team at some stage of my career and maybe that could be now. I don’t want to move every season, I want to stay in this team for many years.”
