The Liverpool star is already attracting interest from Real Madrid and now, with contract extension negotiations stalling, Chelsea are keeping a close eye on developments, according to the Daily Express.
According to the paper:
The Anfield outfit are desperate to get Sterling to commit his long term future to the club but saw there opening offer - which doubled the 20-year-old's wages to £70,000-a-week - rebuffed.
And reports this morning suggest that Sterling has treated Liverpool's improved offer with similar disdain.
Brendan Rodgers is thought to be optimistic that Sterling will sign new terms worth approximately £90,000-a-week in the near future.
