Mourinho made it clear that Liverpool hitman Suarez is the number one player he wants to drive the club forward.
The Chelsea manager admitted last week that he is keen to bring in a world-class striker to the club, but said the player he wanted would only be available in the summer.
That player is said to be Suarez, who has enjoyed a stunning season so far, and could well fire Liverpool into the Champions League next season – underlining exactly why he was not for sale last month.
A value of £55m is being quoted, but if Liverpool were willing to sell in the summer it is very likely there would be higher offers from Spain or Italy.
