The former Middlesbrough and Aston Villa winger has failed to score so far this season, but his manager believes it is just bad luck.
"Stewart has made plenty of chances. He has had a few opportunities he has been unfortunate with," said Dalglish.
"If you took a percentage of the chances where the woodwork was more kind to us, then everybody starts to look better. Our goals for and points total would be better, as would our individual stats.
"Stewart has made a huge contribution to the fact we have hit the post 16 times and created so many chances and shots at goal.
"It has been bad luck and inspired goalkeeping which has denied him."
