West Ham are apparently in talks with Liverpool about a possible move for the player, after already signing Andy Carroll during this transfer window.
It is very unlikely that Liverpool will receive an offer anywhere near the £20m they paid Aston Villa for Downing back in 2011, but selling him on will free up more cash for Brendan Rodgers' transfer kitty.
