The French striker spent two seasons at Liverpool, scoring 24 goals in 49 games and winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FA Cup under Rafael Benitez.

After leaving Anfield for Marseille in 2006 he spent time on loan at Sunderland and later spent a year with QPR.

"The body says stop, now it's over," Cisse told French TV channel Canal+. "I can't practice high-level football."
