"He's still a young lad, 20 years old," said the boss after the game. "There is a lot he has to develop, in terms of physicality and the other footballing parts.

“He was OK tonight, absolutely, but then you saw him defending together with Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and Kev Stewart.

"Kev Stewart did all the work and the other two boys were a little bit in the half spaces. They have to learn, they have to improve, but they can all play football that's for sure!

“He scored his first goal, which was very nice to see; first goal, first situation, it's a dream. You don't see a player celebrate like him in a friendly game very often!

“He showed that it was a big moment, but that's nice to see. These players will improve, that is for sure.”
