Roberto Firmino, who struck the first goal today, was the only starter from the Europa League game. In came Kevin Stewart, Sheyi Ojo, Jordon Ibe, Connor Randall and a debut for goalkeeper Danny Ward.

Daniel Sturridge was sharp, backpassing for the first goal and scoring the second to give the Reds their third victory in a busy eight days, moving them up to seventh in the Premier League with a game in hand on both West Ham and Man Utd above them.

"Thursday was great, but with the same team we'd have no chance today," said Klopp after the game.

"We tried to find players ready for this game today and we found them.

"All the wingers and full-backs are very young and very skilled but not the biggest experience, used the experience from the central player.

"I\m happy we scored two goals. We could have scored more. At the end it became close, but over the whole 90 minutes we were the better team.

"Three points, nice match in a wonderful city. Let's go home."
