Let's get 'The Angel' to Number One

Last updated : 06 February 2014 By Gary Purvis

‘The Angel’ by Kirkdale's Dominic Dunn pays tribute to the Hillsborough campaigner, who fought for justice for her son Kevin who died on that fateful day in 1989, lost her battle with cancer last April.

“I was asked if I could write a song for Anne a week before the fundraiser in September," Dunn told the Echo.

“I wanted it to be a song that touched people and knew it would be hard to write in only a few days but I just got my head down and put my mind to it.

“Anne’s son Kevin was a similar age to me so I had that going through my mind. I read up about the fight for justice and all the work that Anne did, and then just wrote was in my heart.

“Anne’s family told me they really liked it so as long as they're satisfied that's all that matters to me.

“I'm so proud to have been asked to do it and am just made up to be associated with such an inspirational and respected figure within the city.”

'The Angel' will be officially launched on Monday 17th March. It will be available to download on iTunes on pre-sale 2 weeks prior to the 17th.

Dominic has very generously agreed to donate all monies raised by this song to the Anne Williams 'For Justice' charity.
