Liverpool claim a point against Villa

Last updated : 07 April 2012 By Adam Bryant

Aston Villa took the lead in 10 minutes and held on well through the first half.

Liverpool came out for the second half with more purpose, then brought on Andy Carroll and Craig Bellamy for Stewart Downing and Jonjo Shelvey on the hour mark.

From then on it was one-way traffic and the Reds got their reward. A good cross from Steven Gerrard found Daniel Agger who's header bounced down from the crossbar into the path of Luis Suarez to equalise.

Despite pushing on for the winner Liverpool failed to claim the three points, which would have been deserved after a dominant second 45, but the draw will suffice.

Full report to follow.

Team: Doni, Flanagan, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique (Agger), Shelvey (Bellamy), Henderson, Kuyt, Gerrard, Downing (Carroll), Suarez.
