The 24-year old central defender is currently on loan at Southampton, but hasn't been getting first team football and QPR could be persuaded to terminate the loan and send him to Liverpool for the remainder of the season instead.
With Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren still out of action, defensive cover is one of Klopp's priorities in this transfer window.
