Liverpool will have to pay Portsmouth £1m if they win the League

Glen Johnson's £17.5m transfer in 2009 included a clause that would require Liverpool to pay the south coast club an additional £1m should they win the Premier League.

The windfall would be a blessing for the League Two club as they continue to struggle with financial difficulties.

However, they are keeping tight-lipped about the contract. Chief executive Mark Catlin said: “Contracts remain private and confidential and that should never change."
