The Italian midfielder spent last season on loan at the Serie A club, but his future remains uncertain, with the 27-year-old preparing to return to Liverpool under new manager Brendan Rodgers.
"Before August 31st, another midfielder will arrive, it could be Aquilani or somebody else," Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani told Gazzetta dello Sport. "We haven't spoken yet to Aquilani. He is a Liverpool player."
