However, he did admit that if a suitable offer was received for the frontman then it would be considered.
"I think there's been a little bit of unfair criticism of Andy. There's been a lot of speculation in the press in terms of not being able to fit into the style of play which I'd play, but that's unfair.
"If a club spent £35m on a player you would expect that player to fit into whatever style a manager will bring in.
"For me, he's an important part of the group. There's talk about him going out on loan but there's absolutely no way I'd be looking to loan a player like that, especially after the investment the club have paid.
"But if an offer comes in for a player at the club we'll either look at it or dismiss it and Andy is no different to that.
