The Belgian forward will be out for a month and could miss up to five Premier League games, the FA Cup replay with Exeter and second leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final against Stoke City.
With Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings also injured, Jurgen Klopp's attacking options are now severeley limited and a new signing in the January transfer window is looking more likely.
