According to several reports, led by the Southern Daily Echo, Liverpool have this morning made a formal approach for Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana.

With the World Cup Finals around the corner and Lallana likely to be seleceted for Roy Hodgson's squad later today, Rodgers is keen to do a deal quickly ahead of further interest in the player.

Saints chairman Ralph Krueger yesterday tea-time insisted the club had received no bids for any of their players or any approaches for manager Mauricio Pochettino.

But last night it was being reported that Manchester United were making a £27m bid for England left back Luke Shaw.

And this morning it is also being reported that Liverpool, fresh from finishing runners-up in the Premier League and therefore able to offer Champions League football, have made an official bid for Lallana.
