RIP John Bennison

He was one of the original members of Bill Shankly's bootroom, joining the club in 1970 and playing his part in the club's successes for 23 years until his retirement in 1993.

“John did a great job for Liverpool Football Club as part of the youth set-up," said Roy Evans.

“It was a role that sometimes goes unnoticed with the supporters, but if you look at the players who come through to play for the first team working under John that is a tribute to how good these people were at their job.

“John was a smashing fella. He was always there to help, not just with the coaching side of things, but he also helped on the outside as well. He will be sadly missed.”
