"It was a great credit to the players," he said after the game. "I haven't really been thinking about the derby game. For us with a squad so small its just one game at at time at the moment.
"Anzhi are a very good side with some outstanding players so tonight was about the team and the group, some of the guys that have played in earlier rounds have been brilliant for us, but I always pick a team that I think can win the game and tonight was an excellent performance.
"It's three clean sheets in a row which is important for us and we're now adding that bit of steel and concentration to the footballing elements that we're working on, so it was good to be able to close the game out.
"I thought the players were terrific. They had good control of the game and when they had to dig deep towards the end they were outstanding."
