The Telegraph's Chris Bascombe is reporting that the striker missed training again on Monday as the squad prepare for the League Cup game.
He bruised his knee ahead of Jurgen Klopp's first game in charge of the Reds against Spurs two weeks ago.
It is unsure how many players Klopp will rest for the game, with so many matches in such a short period of time and at the same time a lengthy injury list.
Hopefully we will know more when the German gives his pre-match press conference shortly.
