The Spanish keeper was rumoured to be joining Liverpool during the transfer window, but without a contract there was no need for a contract to be signed by the closing date and it was believed he would join up with the Reds within the following few weeks.
However, Valdes has now accepted an offer from Manchester United to train with them as he recovers from injury and, having worked under Louis Van Gaal at Barcelona, it now looks almost certain he will join them.
