Be afraid, be very afraid...

Chelsea, desperate for revenge after the semi-final two years ago, are still bleating on about Garcia's ball crossing the line. The fact that the alternative would have been a penalty and down to 10 men seems to have been forgotten by their fans. If they beat us this year, we will at least be equal with them in European semi-final victories over each other.

Milan threw away the biggest advantage lead in a European final. If it's a repeat of the 2005 final and we lose this time, at least we can remind them of the time we beat them and again it will be equal in terms of European final victories over each other.

The one we should be afraid of, very afraid, is if Liverpool and Manchester United were to progress to the final. We have never played them in this competition and this would be in the final. That fact can't be emphasised too much. This isn't a group game or a quarter-final that if we lose, the Mancs would go on and lose to Leverkusen or Porto in the next round (and let's be honest, their knockout record in Europe is shameful). This would give them their third European trophy over their biggest rivals. It would be the shining light in Ferguson's career that he would probably retire on the back of.

If both clubs make it through to the final I honestly don't think I could bear to watch it in the company of other people, such would be my fragile emotional state. I cannot think of a bigger game in the history of Liverpool FC and one that could be either the greatest or most tragic sporting moment of all time. Those of you who think I'm overplaying this, just think how you would feel if the only time ever that two sides have met in the Champions League final it is Man Utd who beat us. Imagine an even worse scenario that they've already won the Premiership and beaten Chelsea in the FA Cup and we give them the treble again.

We obviously would not hope to lose to Chelsea in the semi-finals so there is only one option for us all. We must unite behind our Italian cousins and buy our AC Milan shirts. Forget this 'English clubs in Europe.' We must become Italian for two days, eat pasta and ride scooters.
