I came to Liverpool in 1978, a year before Emlyn left to join Wolves. In a way I suppose I was brought in to replace him as he was playing at full back at the time.
Until very recently I used to play in Emlyn's celebrity teams for charity matches. We used to raise a lot of money at the dinners then play a game on Sunday, a little worse for wear.
Emlyn was a larger than life character and was one of the lads with myself Terry McDermott, Peter Thompson and Alan Hansen - we always went out together.
I'll miss him greatly.
