Injury woes continue

Currently sitting at eighth in the table there is clearly room for improvement but what factors have impacted on our campaign so far?

Despite very strong performances and results from the team against Chelsea and Manchester City, the team has then looked poor losing to teams such as struggling Newcastle, Watford and West Ham in recent weeks.

Boxing Day saw the defeat of table-climbing Leicester City as Benteke brought us a goal at Anfield along with another clean sheet. Liverpool showed a good performance and with a strong effort but missed opportunities could have achieved a greater score line as Vardy and Mahrez failed to prove why they have been this season's talking point.

With upcoming matches against Arsenal and Manchester United, Jurgen Klopp will definitely be trying to get the team as focused as possible but one of the scares for the team now is the ongoing injuries the team appear to be acquiring nearly each week!

The highest profile seems to be Daniel Sturridge who has commonly being nicknamed ‘sick note’ with a number of injuries including hip, knee and hamstring, haunting Liverpool for months. Frustrated fans see a burst of talent and energy return to the team the three times under Klopp when Sturridge has returned to the pitch. With a predicted two weeks left of his injury woes, Sturridge should be returning alongside Jon Flanagan and Divock Origi.

Joe Gomez and Ings still have five months until their recovery is complete over knee injuries acquired near the beginning of the season. However skipper Jordan Henderson currently has no confirmed return date and Martin Skrtel is thought to return in five weeks.

Last night’s victory over Stoke in the Capital One Cup semi-finals saw the frightening sight of more injury woes as Kolo Toure was seen gripping his hamstring and Dejan Lovren and Philippe Coutinho also came off for what Klopp has described as ‘bad injuries’. If these injuries are serious, this could seriously set Liverpool back as the defense will be looking even thinner than before!

Jamie Carragher believes this may put pressure on Klopp during the January transfer window but many believe he is not the type of manager to panic buy and will be thinking forward to the team he wants to create for the future.
