Let me entertain you!

The words that that resonated most with me we're talk of a "stable defence", "belief", "expectation", "emotion" and most of all, "entertainment". The new man has got a clear idea about what he expects from the Liverpool team and I am, as no doubt every other Liverpool fan is, keen to see how this translates on the pitch and into results.

Klopp was not my first choice of Liverpool manager, simply  because I felt that Ancelotti has more experience with handling the type of player Liverpool should be looking to entice to the club and of course, above all his record of succeeding many a time at the very highest level. However, I can't deny Klopp has other qualities that are just as welcome and for sure, more in fitting with the Fenway Sports Group approach. Albeit not the Ben Green approach. After all, who's he anyway?

One thing I do like about the German is his passion. This, for me is by far his most appealing quality. His passion for the game, his passion in his belief in how he wants to play and, above all his passion for Liverpool Football Club. This, I believe is where he will make a difference. Having worked in Germany, I've had no shortage of advice about Klopp over the last year or two. The most memorable of which came from a Borussia Mönchengladbach fan: He's absolutely crazy, but he's also a lovely guy with real heart. The Brits will love him.

I don't believe Klopp's ideas are that much different than those of Brendan Rodgers. Umschaltspielen. "Transition play" as it was translated in the press conference, is really not far off if at all from Rodgers' idea of high pressing, high tempo, ball winning and turning defence into attack - quickly. What dissimilarity there is, lies in the character of the exponent. Who is preaching it. The German is a strong personality who's desire and emotion comes through loud and clear.

It's often said in life that it's not what you say but it's the way that you say it and the 48 year-old German, even in his advanced but often directly translated English gets his point across in a way that inspires trust. And this trust is one aspect that will see him prevail where Rodgers failed. I often felt that Rodgers was perhaps too meek in his approach and in his demeanor. As much as I like him and his ideas, I just got the impression that the majority of the players never really bought into his ideal and thus didn't perform.

My feeling with Klopp is that a lack of belief or acceptance of his ideas is simply not an option. Full stop. Or to use the German equivalent... Schluss! Meaning literally, final or close. This is something I like. A character. Someone, you can't but help but warm to. He seeks to bring more reality to the expectations voiced by the average Liverpool supporter. To see that there is work to do. Because of the club's history, we have no automatic right to success and these are words to be heeded. Not least also by the players. For the latter, are the ones who step across the white line week in and week out.

Many of the current team need to pull their proverbial fingers out and their proverbial socks up. On far too many occasion it's them who have let the manager, the fans and the club down and up until now, they've got away with it. I get the feeling we'll see a change now. Many of the poor performances put on by the team have been down to conplacency, ineptitude and a downright lack of... Well yes, emotion. The club doesn't have rubbish players. In my opinion they simply need a kick up the ar*e and reminding who they play for. This, I've no doubt Herr. Klopp will likely succeed where Mr. Rodgers failed.

The next game is against Tottenham at White Hart Lane. I'm expecting a result. A positive one. Because that always happens when a new "sheriff" comes to town. What I'm looking for is how the team adopts the managers ideas going forward. How much they're prepared to work for the jersey and just how much they want success. This as Klopp says: is a good mement. An opportunity to be taken, not simply because there's a new manager but because it is possible. Liverpool fans now need to stop dreaming. Stop dreaming, and start believing. Be entertained.
