Let's blame Joe Allen

Some of the vitriol aimed at Liverpool's diminuitive midfielder has to be seen to be believed.

While no dna test has yet been taken (to the best of my knowledge), I very much doubt Joe Allen is Brendan Rodgers' lovechild. He's a member of the Liverpool squad that is often called upon in the absense of Steven Gerrard and/or Lucas Leiva.

He's a player that does a job when called upon. The fact that its not often a very 'sexy' job that involves goals and assists passes by the less knowledgeable so-called fans. He doesn't practise rabonas or elasticos, Instead he tackles, holds the ball up, breaks up play and holds his position to allow others the freedom to get forward.

He may not make you do a 'sex wee' if you get him in a FIFA 15 Gold Pack, but real football isn't played with a goalkeeper, four defenders and six forwards.

When Liverpool lose its not always Joe Allen isn't solely to blame, its the whole team. Blaming one player masks the bigger problems we have when we lose, such as sloppy defending, lack of creativity in the final third and poor finishing.

By all means tell yourselves it is all Joe Allen's fault if it gives you a warm glow inside, but don't embarrass yourselves by taking to social media to show off your lack of understanding of the game.
