Liverpool FC set to confirm Klopp as manager on Friday morning

The Liverpool Echo's James Pearce reports that a press conference will be held in the city center for "a major club announcement". Which to my humble mind means the unveiling of the 20th manager of Liverpool Football Club.

The announcement should - all being well - end speculation surrounding what began toward the end of last season when the tide of optimism on which swept Brendan Rodgers along since his second place finish in the 2013/14 season, finally began to abate.

Despite some positive additions to the playing staff over the summer and replacing his coaching and assisting staff, Rodgers has endured an indifferent start to the season. 12 points from a possible 24 has been seen by the club's owners Fenway Sports Group as below expectations given the money spent and changes made.

Klopp, 48 brings with him a wealth of experience having guided Brussia Dortmund to the Bundesliga title twice and reaching the Champions League final during his seven-year spell with die Schwarzgelben (the Black and yellows) and has been a long standing favourite with the Liverpool faithful. Those writing about the German will now have to access the u-umlaut (ü) on their keyboards. If you don't have it, then the name is spelt "Juergen" to capture the close front rounded vowel. For the linguists among you.

Regardless of the mixed feelings expressed over Rodgers' dismissal, fact is barring any disasters, this time tomorrow Liverpool FC will have a new manager. The king is dead - long live the king!
