Liverpool tie up Sakho deal

The 23 year old French defender is now Liverpool’s seventh and most expensive signing of the summer.

The central defender was one of three Reds targets watching on at Anfield yesterday and becomes Liverpool’s second deadline day signing after Sporting Lisbon central defender Tiago Ilori was confirmed earlier whilst Chelsea’s Victor Moses loan signing is expected to be completed soon.

Sakho joins with a big reputation from France and is regarded one of the countries brightest young defending talents alongside Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.

It is understood Sakho was keen to join a top club in a top league where he would be assured regular first team football in a World Cup year as he looks to add onto his 14 caps for the French National side.

Sakho also made 197 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain but believes he was due to be down the pecking order this season after the French outfit made a number of high profile summer signings.

Sakho will be a welcome addition to the Reds and will add competition for Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Kolo Toure and Tiago Ilori, at 23 he already has a wealth of experience and could genuinely prove to be a long term Jamie Carragher replacement.
