Money Talks

In total somewehere around £200m was spent in this recent transfer window. Phone calls and emails were exchanged between clubs, players and agents. In fact BT must have just loved it.

But of course what most concerned us as Liverpool fans, was the departure to Chelsea of the lad we bought from sunny Spain - a certain Fernando Torres. The whole affair surrounding his departure, stinks worse than a pair of my old socks, and that's pretty stinky.

There can be no doubt whatsoever that Chelsea's pursuit of him in the summer helped Torres' wonderlust and the lack of Champions League football won't have helped things either. And heck we all felt utterly depressed and disappointed during Roy Hodgson's thankfully brief reign as Liverpool manager.

But to put in a transfer request so soon after Kenny returned as manager and to not give him the slightest chance to turn things around? Hardly the behaviour of someone who had the best interests of LFC at heart.

And than there's Chelsea. Before Abramovich arrived, they were nothing but a irrelevant cockney annoyance with psychotic supporters. Now they are a bunch of incredibly wealthy swellheads with a hugely-inflated feeling of their self importance. Their supporters are still a bunch of psychos, mind. The point is of course is that Torres has only gone to Stamford Bridge because of their huge wedge of cash. There is no other reason because, without Roman, Chelsea would return to being a nothing club again.

So Torres goes to a club that in recent years have become even more arrogant than the self-proclaimed "biggest and best" Man Utd, and he does so uttering a "big club remark" as he leaves. Well after that statement, as far as I'm concerned, Torres can go and rot. Despite a 20-year wait for a league title, Liverpool are STILL the most successful club in the country. Chelsea look on our trophy haul and other achievments with huge green-eyed jealousy. They haven't achieved half of what Liverpool have done. A big club? If football clubs were fishes, Liverpool would be a piranha and chelsea would be a sardine.

There are words to describe how Chelsea, Torres and his agent have behaved but not one of them doesn't involve the use of profanity, and some of them might even be physically impossible.

As for Liverpool FC? Life goes on without Torres. We existed long before he came from sunny Spain, and there will continue to be a Liverpool FC long after Torres has hung up his boots. True I for one am not 100% sure about either Suarez or Carroll, but you can guarantee that both of them will learn something about the art of being a centre forward from the manager. Heck, if they can't learn something about being a striker from The King then there's no hope for either of them. One things for sure, both of them will put in more effort than Torres has for the last 18 months.

I can only conclude that after all the skills and all the goals that Torres scored at Liverpool we should miss him and wish him well, but after behaving in the way that he has I don't think any Liverpool fan will be prepared to do either.
