No Reds future for young midfielder

Last updated : 09 April 2016 By Sam May

The 20-year-old youngster was brought to the club in 2012 from Crewe Alexandra and was tipped for a bright future on Merseyside. Beating Manchester City to his signature, he was tipped as the Reds future Number 10.

Staffordshire-born Trickett-Smith helped the Reds to reach the FA Youth Cup semi-final in 2013, earning him a three-year professional contract.

Liverpool are said to have paid £300,000 for his services initially, with the fee rising to £1 million if he had established himself.

He was seen as one of the brightest young talents in the country at the age of 16, but failed to progress into the first team.

With Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana all being brought in for big money fees in his position, competition became too strong for the youngster and he dropped down the pecking order.

Having been told he won’t be offered a new deal, he will use the remainder of the season to find a new club.

It is understood Klopp’s close friend and manager of Huddersfield Town, David Wagner, is keen on luring Trickett-Smith to the John Smith’s Stadium.
