Steamy Windows

All the hot air about Rivaldo, Recoba, Dyer, Kezman and co. seems to have evaporated, leaving us without any real news of any new signings at Anfield, other than the promise that Cisse may be with us in the summer.

Gerard Houllier has gone on record to say that there will be no new faces in January so it now looks like we will have another five months of speculation until the end of the season.

The mass clearout that some anti-Houllierites were predicting has failed to materialise also. Instead, we must continue to hope that the underachievers come good in the New Year.

Fourth place is now our target and there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to achieve that goal, as long as the key players steer clear of injury and play to their full potential.

Maybe then Houllier's job will be safe for another year, but I'm sure there will be several managers names linked with the post between now and then to feed your hunger for gossip.
