Superstitious mumbo jumbo

Quite why the eleventh month if the year has been singled out by these superstitious people escapeds me. Are they aware that we won our first two games of the month, and have only lost two of the six games played so far?

"November is always unluck for us," we hear, yet if you look back over the last few seasons that is not the case. Last season we only lost one game (against Barcelona), the year before we lost twice.

It's got nothing to do with November according to others. It's because Houllier won the manager of the month award, and there is a curse on that. When Phil Thompson picked up the award last November, we lost twice the following month, and when Houllier won it in March we lost another two games in April.

When I was younger there were half a dozen first division teams labelled bogey teams. These were always relegation fodder who should have been easy to beat, but proved the opposite. That old superstition seems to have died down a lot now, as has the unlucky kit theory that Liverpool always lost in their yellow/white/grey/green away kit.

While I accept that we have not played brilliantly at times, there is no evidence to suggest curses are to blame. Consistency is the culprit and the sooner we accept that, instead of creating crazy voodoo excuses then the sooner we will be able to move forward.
