That was the week then was it?

The manager’s tactics at home still leave a lot to be desired. Charlton looked disinterested in the game; they are on a bad run and have nothing to play for.

However, we still play deep and leave one player in the box. Other teams above us in the league would commit 6 or 7 players forward in their attacks and not let the opposition out of their own penalty area. If the other team do break, surly we can rely on some of the best defenders and goalkeeper in the country to stop them? Easter was always going to iron out a few creases in the table.

Everton have been nudged out of the race but rather oddly, there are now three teams battling for the third and fourth spot. The end of the season always throws up some bonkers results and we can thank Villa for doing us a couple of favours.

I said I’d finish the season happy if we beat Everton and thank Michael we did. Their game plan seemed to be more about kicking us than trying to score and we can always reply on Murphy to produce an important winner. That will keep my Evertonian friends quiet for five minutes.

If we win the last three games, Champions League is for us. West Brom will be tricky as they try to restore pride, Man City brings a few ex-reds together which is always dangerous and of course Stanford Bridge represents the final and toughest hurdle.

Whatever happens it will not have been a great season but to say it’s been a disaster is ridiculous. We haven’t been lower than 7th in the league and have contended with some awful form, luck and a manager who is still learning the Premiership. All of which will make us stronger and better equipped for next year.
