That was the week then was it?

I don’t think the season has been a disaster; it’s how Houllier reacts to this season that really counts. He will ultimately be judged on who he buys at left midfield and what he does about the Heskey situation.

The only other real concern is whether he can regain control of the players. Mentally the team look weak and don’t seem to be sure what the game plan is. How many times recently has Danny Murphy been left with the ball and no-one to pass to, only to have three opposition players descend upon him. My biggest fear is that some of the players may have lost faith in the manager and that is something no amount of talent and money can resolve.

In the last two seasons the players looked mentally invincible and therefore very hard to beat. This year there has been a change and I think some of the senior players feel the manager has made poor selection decisions and not bought anyone with experience. I honestly believe the Kop will lose patience next season if we don’t start beating sidea at home and seriously challenge Arsenal and Man Utd. for the Premiership.
