That was the week then was it?

He might be stating the obvious and remarking that after a slightly disappointing season, Liverpool have to make sure there is a vast improvement next term. However, with two years remaining on his contract, it would appear Owen is telling the manager to buy some good players, get rid of the bad ones and organise some more important winner’s medals than the six he already has.

Owen, along with Steve Gerrard is the most valuable player at the club. I mean this not only in terms of his transfer value should he not sign a contract extension, but also his on field contribution. Money cannot buy you the attitude and desire to win Owen and Gerrard possess. Certain players make a club tick and these are the pair that Houllier needs to build a team around.

If I were Rick Parry I would tell the manager to do everything in his power to keep Owen happy and at the club. A lot of people I think he’s overrated and Liverpool should sell him for a massive profit. I personally don’t want to see him picking up European and Championship medals for Real Madrid.
