That was the week then was it?

All good teams must be built from the back and a decent keeper should be a priority for any top side. Thankfully at Anfield we have what most people agree are two of the best. Dudek’s only rival for the best in the Premiership is Shay Given and had Chris Kirkland avoided injury, would be England’s first choice this summer, although that probably says more about the mediocre competition for the number one shirt than his talent.

Dudek has been a match winner over the past couple of seasons and when you have a side like Liverpool who often win games by the odd goal, you need an ace stopper to claw last minute chances over the bar. Despite an embarrassing dip in form and confidence around Christmas (when in fairness every player did) he is still the best keeper in the team. Chris Kirkland showed plenty of promise and a glimpse of the future during his run but Dudek’s experience makes him a more valuable player.

On his way out is the lovable Pegguy who has played around ten games of professional football over his entire career. He seemed happy enough on the bench but it’s a sign of the times that high earners who are not playing are to be let go. In the reserves Patrice Luzi has made an exciting start to his employment at Liverpool. His performances have drawn plaudits form fans and staff alike.
