That Was The Week Then Was It?

Our run had to come to an end and we really haven’t played well recently. We needed a late penalty to beat Spurs and defeated West Ham without playing any better then when we lost to Valencia.

Whilst at the top of the league, it is up to us to go and win games, not sit back as we did against Middlesbrough. Snatching a one goal away victory it great when you pull it off, but you look like berks when it fails.

I can’t begin to explain what happened in Basle. Hyypia played like he’d been drinking before the game and everything the Swiss touched ended up going in. Nevertheless, I thought we might win right at the death. However, if I have to watch Owen take another penalty I may go mad. These days I’m almost hoping the ref doesn’t give us any.

Not beating Sunderland is just plain frustrating. We all know that home wins against the bottom teams should be the bread and butter points. Unfortunately, they have a new manager and a siege mentality, whereby they need to do anything to avoid defeat. Had we played them a month ago I’m sure it would have been more like 4-0. However, they played us at our own game and for that they deserve some respect.
