Another defeat in that horrid toxic green away kit...
Over the years Liverpool fans have often claimed some kits to be unlucky, often the lesser-worn change kits from the 1980's yellow to the Carlsberg green number from the 2000's.
But when New Balance unveiled the latest yellow/green third kit it didn't go down well with many, being labelled 'toxic' within minutes across social media. This wasn't going to be a lucky kit, we just knew it.
Back on 20th August we went to Premier League newboys Burnley with high hopes of coming back with a comfortable three points. After all, we had just stuffed Arsenal at the Emirates the weekend before. But the toxic kit got an airing and we came home with our tails between our legs after losing 2-0.
Fast forward to 4th December and a trip down to another newly-promoted side - Bournemouth. We had been unbeaten since the Turf Moor debacle 16 games earlier. The toxic kit got another airing and once again we were beaten. 4-3 to the Cherries.
Fast forward once again to 11th January and the League Cup semifinal first leg at Southampton. When we played them at St Mary's in the Premier League we wore the black kit and drew 0-0. Not an ideal result, but not a defeat. This time someone decided to dust down the toxic green kit and 90 minutes later we found ourselves suffering a 1-0 defeat.
Looking back, we have lost three games this seasobn and all three were in the toxic green kit. That is most certainly an unlucky kit and needs to be burned to rid us of the curse.
Please New Balance, stop messing around with lurid colours and give us back our beloved and original white away kit!
