The fitness gurus Klopp could Kop for Liverpool

Last updated : 14 April 2016 By Sam May

Morgans, whose training regime was described by former Reds captain Steven Gerrard as “brutal”, joined Liverpool back in October 2012, following the arrival of Brendan Rodgers from Swansea.

The Welshman ended his four-year spell on Merseyside as he looks to take up a new challenge.

So who could be brought in?

Andreas Kornmayer – Fitness Coach

The 41-year old has worked at Bayern Munich for over a decade and is highly regarded in the field. He offers a cutting edge fitness programme and regime. The Klopp lookalike has previously worked under Louis Van Gaal, Jup Heynckes and Pep Guardiola. His appointment looks likely.

Andreas Beck – Athletics Coach

The 40-year old highly rated athletics coach, forms part of the Borussia Dortmund fitness set-up and is seen as one of the best in the field.

Spending five years at 1.FC Nurnburg, he was brought to club by former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp back in 2012 as part of three fitness coaches. His responsibilities include warming up the players before a match and focusing on their rehabilitation.

Klopp may look to bring in Beck, another trusted lieutenants in the summer, ahead of the new campaign as Morgans replacement.

Dr. Andreas Schlumberger - Doctor

Not a fitness coach, but a doctor. The 49-year old is now part of the Bayern Munich medical team. Despite his medical experience, Schlumberger has created fitness regimes for players and likes to oversee rehabilitation and prevention work.

Having spent 38-years at Borussia Dortmund during Klopp’s tenure, he is a proven expert in the field, and has sound knowledge on health. He could be the answer to Liverpool’s constant injury problems.

If brought to the club he could work alongside current Liverpool doctor Andrew Massey, who was promoted to first team duties this season, following the departure of Zaf Iqbal to Crystal Palace.

Florian Wangler – Fitness Coach

The 36-year old has been at Borussia Dortmund since 2008. The former sports science graduate, spent a year in the USA to learn and develop his skills. Wangler is also key in helping injured players by setting up training regimes.

If brought in, he could work along side current rehab fitness coach Jordan Milsom, strength and rehabilitation assistant David Rydings and sports therapist Pedro Philippou.
